Beat Buffalo66 Promo Winding Down
So far we have paid out 13 winners $260 in bonuses in our Beat Buffalo66 promotion. To earn a $20 bonus, all you have to is Beat Buffalo66 three straight times in the Beat Buffalo66 fantasy hockey leagues that we are running. The promo will continue to run until the end of the month, when the fantasy baseball season begins. Thanks to everyone who has participated in our Beat Buffalo66 promo.

New Beat Buffalo66 Challenge
Starting today Fantasy Sports Live will be offering a new Fantasy Hockey promotion called “Beat Buffalo66”. Buffalo66 is a longtime daily fantasy sports player and second on our all-time wins leaderboard. For the promotion we will be running multi-player fantasy hockey leagues called “Beat Buffalo66” on any day with 4 or more NHL games on the schedule. The leagues will have an entry fee of $6.60, and pay out our standard 91% in prizes. In addition to the normal cash prizes, anyone who beats Buffalo66’s fantasy score over three consecutive Beat Buffalo66 leagues will get an extra $20 cash bonus. Simple as that, well except for the fine print below.
1) At least one multi-player league called “Beat Buffalo66” will run on days with 4 NHL games on the schedule.
2) FSL may at its option add additional multiplayer or heads-up leagues when the initial league fills, but this is not guaranteed. Enter early to guarantee your seat in the challenge.
3) Buffalo66 will enter the league as well. If for some reason, Buffalo66 is unable to register for the original league or any subsequent leagues on a given day, all “Beat Buffalo66” entries will be given credit for beating Bufflo66’s score that day.
4) You must enter and beat Buffalo66’s score in three consecutive days where “Beat Buffalo66” leagues were run. If you miss a day when “Beat Buffalo66” leagues were running, and streak that you had ends.
5) On days where more than one “Beat Buffalo66” league is run, only your first entry (lower ID#) counts towards the promotion.
6) $20 Bonus will be credited to your FSL account within 3 business days.
7) After a bonus is earned your streak ends, and you can start a new one with the next league.
8) FSL reserves the right to discontinue or alter this promotion at anytime.

Thanks Everyone for a Great Fantasy Hockey Season
The NHL, like the NBA and MLB seem to value TV ratings over little guys like FantasySportsLive. As we move to the semifinals of the NHL Hockey season, we get a staggered schedule for TV purposes. This means no more days with two or more NHL games on the schedule and as a result no more daily fantasy hockey leagues in the NHL playoffs. We had tremendous growth this fantasy hockey season over our first season in 2007/2008. We want to thank all of the new hockey users this year as well as the regulars for a very successful fantasy hockey season. We expect continued rapid growth and an expansion of our daily fantasy hockey offerings next year. I would also like to thank GoaliePost.com for partnering with us early in the season, and introducing tons of hardcore NHL fans to FSL. GoaliePost is one of the only sites where you can get daily starting goalie information which is key when setting a daily fantasy hockey line-up. The NBA Semifinal playoff schedule is not set yet, but it is likely to be staggered for TV. This Sunday may be your last chance to get your daily fantasy basketball fix until next season.

NHL Fantasy Hockey Season Completed at FSL
It appears that we have run our last Fantasy Hockey contest for the 07/08 NHL season. We need to have two games on the daily schedule to run a fantasy contest. Now that the third round NHL playoff schedule is out, it appears that the games will be staggered throughout the round, and we will not get any more multiple game days this playoffs. This is done to maximize TV profits, but is bad for our contests here as the Fantasy Hockey season is now over. Thanks to everyone who played in our unique daily fantasy hockey contests this year. We are planning to make Fantasy Hockey bigger and better for next season. In the meantime please check out the Fantasy Baseball, Fantasy Basketball, and Fantasy NASCAR Racing contests that continue to run on Fantasy Sports Live.

Daily Fantasy Hockey - Basic Strategy
There are not too many websites running Daily Fantasy Hockey Contests out there. This post will cover some of the basic strategy considerations for the Fantasy Hockey Contests on Fantasy Sports Live. First off, like all other daily fantasy sports, daily fantasy hockey requires a pretty good knowledge of the sport and the match-ups for the day. Just like any other sport you should be drafting players that are facing weak competition or weak defenses. You also want to draft players that are "Hot" and have been putting up solid fantasy numbers over the past few games. On these points Fantasy Hockey is really no different than the other fantasy sports offered at FantasySportsLive.com
Where Fantasy Hockey gets unique is in some of the scoring rules. The two most important are listed below.
1) Goalie Scores 20 points for a win
While goalies in general do not score much more fantasy points than the top skaters, they do get a big 20 point bonus for a win. So it is pretty important to have a goalie on your team that will get the win. This is similar to Fantasy Baseball where the pitcher gets a bonus for the win. However, with Fantasy Hockey it is not always obvious who the starter will be for the game. So the key strategy is that you want a goalie that is likely to get the win and even more important is very likely to start. For the likely winner, you can check the online sportsbooks to find what teams are heavily favored. For the likely starter this is a bit tougher. Obviously teams who rarely rotate goalies are safer than teams with two strong goalies. Sometimes you will just need to do some research and find out who the planned starter is for the day. The bottom line is that the 20 points are going to be important to your fantasy teams success so choose your goalie wisely, and don't be afraid to spend a few bucks here.
2) +/- Statistics Count 5 points
This is a very unique scoring rule for Hockey. If your player is one the ice when their team scores you get 5 points, if they are on the ice when their opponent scores, you lose 5 points. So you obviously want players who do well in +/-. Many players in general do well on +/-, but that is reflected in their cap value. What you really want to know is how well will they do in the next game on +/-. Here is where you will want to have players from the day's winning teams. Since the winning team scored more goals than the loser, the winning team will have more "plus" stats than "minus" stats in general. You can again consult an online sportsbook to see who the most heavily favored teams are, and in general draft players from those teams, and not from teams expected to lose. Don't make the mistake of drafting a good fantasy hockey skater, who is facing a tough match-up and whose team will likely lose. Their personal stats may not be able to overcome the minus stats that may come.
